Biography

Mitimae Art

I call myself a visionary artist as I paint what  cannot be seen in this dimension.

I paint what my soul feels around me, some call it spirits or energy.  Spiritual art, visionary art, channeled art or art therapy are the names of this art, and they are bridges between the divine and the earthly plane.

I focus on the positive and bright of each being, place and situation. I use art as a channel to the Divine and also as a therapy for myself and for those who need it.

My works are a compilation of influences from where I was born, Arica, and my travels to Peru, Bolivia, Australia and my constant trips to the countryside and the Elqui Valley, here in Chile.

Arica has been a great and weird influence in my life and so in my art. This city is surrounded by the very lively Andean culture, plenty of UFO sightings, and the Catholic Church where I was baptized. All this has inspired my career as an artist, among Aymaras, Aliens and Angels. This is why I never pigeonhole myself into a single group, as I believe  we all are one, and that nothing is separate.

When we came to live in La Serena with my mother and grandmother, we used to go to Talhuen very often, to the family farm called “Mitimae”. This place gave me the opportunity to connect intensely and freely with the nature of the countryside. And also my first experiences with art as my aunt was an artist. Thanks to the absence of TV, creativity expanded freely.

Years later, my trips to Peru and Bolivia with my mates awakened in me the desire to discover the world. I let myself be delighted by life, and let myself go with the flow. Travel let me find a new part of myself that I didn’t know existed. I learned about the travelers, the local people, their ceremonies, their prayers, their culture.

In 2013 I went to Australia, and that was another world that opened up. Here I found a very loving tribe that welcomed me and taught me about community, brotherhood and  joy. I learned that there is no age, no place to be who you want to be, here I learned that ceremonies are not done 2 or 3 times a year, I learned that life is a ceremony every moment. Here I began to paint as art-therapy since I had difficult moments… but nature and the people who let themselves shine gave me the strength to continue.

After 4 years in Australia, I returned to Chile believing that I could bring that magic to this country, and I continue with the faith…

I have the conviction that art is essential to warm up the hearts and a great tool to manifest, and remind us that we are beings of heaven embodied and sustained by the earth. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. And we came here to be happy.

Along the way I have learned that we are never alone. Although sometimes it feels like we are.

I know most of the time it is hard to see but I know the spirits and ancestors are always with us. The elementals of water, earth, air and fire, our guardian angel and/or spiritual guides, the spirits of animals, the stars, the moon and the sun…

I paint to share messages of love, faith and hope, to inspire, and remind people and myself that we are free beings who choose our destiny, which requires willpower, intention and purpose to live as we want to live.
